Project: For Art’s Sake: Shaken & Stirred

For Art’s Sake is an ongoing pop-up exhibition series placing art in everyday spaces, bringing the art gallery to the people. The exhibition aims to allow a wider audience to experience art by infiltrating places they would visit in their day-to-day, encouraging them to open up their minds to creative cultures.

The first edition, titled “Shaken & Stirred”, presented 62 new art pieces by 50 Southeast Asian artists that reimagine iconic Western works from across art movements and history, in order to explore Southeast Asian identity and experience. These artworks were exclusively created for the exhibition by a diverse range of artists across the mediums of digital illustration, painting, mixed media and photography, presented in the form of fine art prints that are available for purchase.

The exhibition ran from 5 Feb – 2 May 2021, and was presented in 13 venues across Singapore. The venues included F&B outlets such as Moonstone Bar, 8ASH, and Common Man Stan, lifestyle spaces like The Projector, Palm Ave Float Club and Goodluck Bunch, and nightlife spots NINETEEN80 and Upstairs.
